Game Low Down

Since it’s been a smoking hot minute since I’ve posted, I figure this is the best time to get started. So it all started way long time ago but I can give a quick rundown so that everyone’s up to date. There’s a person that was my friend that wanted to be more than my friend but I repeatedly told them I only wanted to be friends and said person continued to try to win my affections and so the last gallant effort at my attention was in the form of purchasing a 4-pack of SEC Championship tickets for $1700 for me, him, and two of our mutual friends. I found out about tickets at same time I found my Wal-Mart map a few days before Black Friday. I was more excited over the map because I knew that where there’s smoke, there’s a fire. I had no idea what type until game day. Leading up to the game, I got more excited thinking about being able to tailgate and enjoy a full football experience. I mean, come on. This game might as well been the National Championship. It was a huge game!!! Out mutual friends that were going started talking about going out to eat at Atlanta Underground before going to game. (Du what!?) I’m sorry but you can eat at any restaurant on any given Saturday…but if you have $1700 tickets to a huge game why would you want to do it on THAT day? Of course, only me and one other in our group even watched football, liked the sport and were huge fans. So I figured if I pushed hard enough, I’d get my way. Which I did. I bought $50 worth of food, he got a small portable grill, and it was on for tailgating!!!

Said male friend meets me at my house at 6am and we leave about 630 am to go and pick up the others. It was my understanding they lived in Edison. I had not been told they moved to Bluffton. If I had known they were in Bluffton and not Edison, I would have gone through Blakely and not through Arlington. Good thing I called when I got there, huh? So I get there and then head off to take Katie to their friend to watch her and then on to the game. About Cuthbert I crack open my first beer. Drinking steady until we get there. Bust out the grill in the parking lot and continue drinking and taking shots. About 3ish we start heading in to the GA Dome to find our seats. By the time we make it to our seats, I’m on the end, then male friend, then female friend, then her boyfriend. We are the only ones on the aisle.

The game starts and there are some Bama fans standing up right in front of me so I have to stand up. I am up cheering and jumping up and down and enjoying the hell outta myself for the most part. My friend’s boyfriend is also standing up cheering. His girlfriend and my friend are sitting down “My head hurts…I drank too much” So I do the most logical thing…I move to the end where the other cheering friend is at. By the time I do that, my friend gets up and says “Well if you’re going to do all that then I’m going to leave”. Next thing I know, he’s sent a text to my friend stating I have disrespected him and was going to take a cab to the airport so he can catch a plane home. I gave him all my money and cards AND MY CAR KEYS!!!! So I told him I could care less if he left but he needed to bring my stuff back to me. I walk down to meet him, get my things and then as I’m going back up to our seats, my friend’s boyfriend comes back and says “Come with me because undoubtedly we got something going on” (High School DRAMA!!!) I don’t quite remember how this happened but my friend was up there with my guy friend and they’re both coming down saying they were ready to leave. Understand this is all before halftime. Hell, I think it was before the 2nd quarter had begun!!! I don’t know what was wrong with everyone but I said “I’m not leaving until the game is over”. They could kiss my ass. I came to watch this game and that was what I planned on doing!!!

So I went back and sat in my seat and at half time I decided to go and look for everyone since I had to go to the bathroom anyways. I have never been to the GA Dome and don’t really care to go back after this. I text them and they say what gate they’re at. I go and I can’t see anyone which did nothing to help my mood one bit. When they finally show up, I had to get a wristband to go outside and smoke…which I couldn’t do because they had my cigarettes.

I come back in and decided that I would watch the game from the lobby area since they were still wanting to leave. TV’s were up all over the place so I decided what better place than next to the smoking door? Next thing I know…they have walked off. Didn’t say “Hey Summer…we’re going over here…nothing.” I sat there for a minute but the gate guards were Bama fans and they were pissing me off. So after speing halftime trying to find them, I then spent the 3rd quarter looking for them. I find them and we kinda are together again but by the 4th quarter they’re gone again. What kind of friends do that?

I mean, the reason the tickets were bought was because he was trying to do something nice for me because I didn’t get to go to games twice this season and I bitched and moaned about it enough that he “got the tickets because he knew football meant so much to me”. Where were my friends who were just along for the ride? I brought no drama with me. I was there to watch the game and have the full blown football experience. I mean this isn’t high school ball here…why was there high school drama?

By the time we leave, heartbroken loss for the Dawgs that I missed so much of what is already deemed a CLASSIC, trying to find people. I walked off my buzz over the 2 ½ hours I’m trying to find everyone! We stop at a gas station and before we leave I try to clear the air, as an adult. I said “I don’t want your man and I don’t want you either.” Then, next thing I know I’m told I’m the drama queen? Ok, who walked off in the middle of a major sporting good and threatened to leave everyone over me swapping seats? Who walked off for who like children several times during the game? I was there to watch the game. I’m sorry if those who don’t get football were there for the ambiance or to go shopping or to go out to eat. We were there to watch a game.

After an offer to drive, which I declined to the person who couldn’t handle their alcohol earlier in the day, I pull out of the intersection with a car oncoming about 4-5 car lengths ahead. It’s ATLANTA! Get in where you fit in! They start yelling and then want to get out. Then there was this dramatic “We’re tired of your shit Summer”   What shit is that fucktard? Wanting to watch a ball game that you paid $1700 dollars for on top of everyone’s alcohol, gas, etc instead of participating in childish games? Nothing…and I mean NOTHING was said in my car from the time we left Atlanta till we got to Columbus where I stopped for gas. Picked up Kate, then drove to Bluffton to drop the other couple off and as soon as they got out they began to get everything out. Dude’s truck is at my house and he said they would bring him later….I get home and have just laid my head on my pillow when I hear his truck crank up.

Childish and wasteful as it was I’m sure they got a full tank out of the deal so I guess those who went for a free ride just continued on with it…

Nothing has been said to anyone since then except for an awkward lunch where I went with someone and what did they do? They sat me right across from him. I said hey though. Did I get a hello in response? No. I got a nod. Oh well!

Anywho, all I know is that I don't let childish things like this bother me...like water off a duck's bath! HA!

Go Dawgs!!!
